Ok, so the title’s not quite true, I’m actually awesome at blogging – on Tumblr. Seriously, I post all the time on there. My actual problem is getting off… but on here I just seem to have run out of things to say on a regular basis so for anyone still reading this, I do apologize for my sporadic posting.
I’m not going to promise I’ll get better at it because frankly that’s a serious promise and we’d all probably be disappointed by the outcome. However, when the inspiration strikes, I promise I will write whatever comes to mind. :)
Also, if you are interested in just hearing my thoughts more regularly not necessarily in writing form, I have started VEDA on my YouTube channel. For any who don’t know, that is Vlog Every Day in April which is something many vloggers take part in every April. Since I’m just getting my YouTube channel really started and don’t currently have many viewers or videos, I thought maybe this was a good idea to hopefully get it to take off a bit. I guess we’ll see how the month goes.
At the start of this, I’m currently at 27 subscribers, 11 videos and 589 overall views. I’m desperately hoping to increase that quite a bit over the month but I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high.
But yeah, if you’re interested in that I’ll leave some videos down below and in the meantime I will try to think of some more things to write on here. :)
In other news: Doctor Who is back and I’m ecstatic. Also Supernatural is again breaking my heart and I just started watching the BBC Robin Hood.
I hope you’re all doing well! :)
This semester I have been absolutely atrocious at updating my Video blog because of spending all my free time with my friends but now that I’m on Spring Break I’m trying to do a little better.
So, after a long absence without uploading, I finally have a new video! Subscribe, like and tell your friends! :D
I made another vlog! And this vlog is where you can all see just how awkward I am in talking… Please watch and subscribe though! :)
So, I finally finished the paper I had been procrastinating on for a while now last night. It was due this morning so this weekend I knew I HAD to get it done, the process was a bit odd though. I’m not sure what it was about this paper, I’m usually very good at getting things done on time without procrastinating too bad but I was lacking all motivation for this paper. Friday was when I was like, “Okay, Hope. Let’s get down to business. This paper HAS to get written NOW.” About that time when I said that, I painted my nails. Then I spent time on the internet procrastinating, then I cleaned/organized my room. Then I started a video blog.
By the time that was finished, it was time to go meet Carrie and Evelyne at the student union for a “Girl’s Night In”, which included s’mores, cookies mocktails (Fake cocktails), henna tattoos, and finger nail painting (Obviously I was there for the food and friends) and after that was over the three of us plus Jared watched the Skeleton Key and then The Land Before Time (Yes I realize those are two vastly different movies but both great anyways) and at this time I realize that obviously I should have been writing my paper but I chose to ignore that. So yeah, that was my Friday night and it was fun and brilliant and I ended Friday night having about half a page written on my paper.
Saturday despite my late night (I got to bed at 3 after the movies Friday), I woke up fairly early for a Saturday determined to work on my paper some more before 1 when my visiting Aunt and Uncle were taking my cousin and I out for lunch, so I got up, took a shower and got dressed, opened my laptop and promptly edited my vlog and uploaded it to YouTube (Though I did work some while it was uploading). By then, it was time to go to lunch and after that a new friend and I went Halloween Costume shopping. When I got back from that, I realized it was now a pretty dire situation that really needed to be worked on. So I worked on my paper for several hours and was actually pretty productive and got all the research done and about half the paper written, by 9 however I was ready for a break and my friend Devon texted me that he was bored so he came over and Devon and I hung out with my roomie Alex. Needless to say, no more work was done Saturday night.
Sunday after church I realized just how little time I had to finish so I actually got very productive and aside from a small break to watch Supernatural with a friend, I worked all afternoon. My goal was to be done by the season premiere of the Walking Dead at 8, however I didn’t quite make that but finished about 10 minutes after I watched that. (Obviously my priorities are in order, right? Tv shows should come before school?) So yes, now I’m finished and have a Vlog so show for it, along with 6 subscribers, yay for me!
But really, I’m actually excited about this vlogging thing, I know it’s not the best but it’s the best I can do with my knowledge of editing and with the camera I have and everything. But yeah, if you guys would watch, subscribe and share I would be super appreciative!
I hope you’re all having a wonderful day!
I know I’ve written several times on here about Nerdfighteria and how incredibly awesome John and Hank Green are but it’s been a while and because I recently joined the Facebook group for adult Nerdfighters, I decided I should write again about how much a blessing it is!
Ok, so for any of you who are new and have no clue what I’m talking about, check out this post I’ve previously written about the wonderful world of Nerdfighteria – https://elvishjesusfreak.wordpress.com/2012/01/09/the-fault-in-our-stars/ and/or check out all of the Vlogbrothers’ wonderful YouTube videos!
Ok, so first thing I want to say, John and Hank have inspired me so much, all of their videos are incredible and a lot of them are super inspiring and both of them have really encouraged me (And countless others!) to really be the best me that I can be. To get out and do things, to love things without shame and to be me, the nerdy me that I am and be proud of that!
Second, Nerdfighteria is pretty much the coolest community ever to be a part of! They’re all so welcoming and friendly and the best thing is, all of us seem to have a ton in common! It’s absolutely brilliant and I feel completely blessed to be a part of it. After all, I’ve been a proud nerd for years but have often felt like I was alone in my nerdom, since becoming a Nerdfighter last summer I’ve made some friends and I’ve grown closer to others.
If you love nerdy things, and aren’t yet a Nerdfighter, I definitely say check it out, and welcome to Nerdfighteria!
Sorry I haven’t written since Monday, I’ve had some homework to do and work has been a bit busy, leaving me no time to write, plus, I haven’t really been inspired to say anything and for that I apologize! When I started writing this, I still didn’t have anything thoughts but my wonderful friend Devon gave me the splendid idea of writing about the different theories for 2012 and my thoughts about the subject.
Probably the most famous theory at this point is about the Mayans. I think we probably all know that the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, what most people don’t realize however is that they never actually predicted the end of the world, it was simply the end of the calendar. And, it actually just is set up to start back over again at the end of it. Plus, how many times do calendars end? Um, every year. Do we all just assume that every time a calendar ends the end of the world is here? I sure hope not. Because that my friends would be ridiculous. My roommate’s Harry Potter calendar ended last December 31st but I wasn’t worried about it, (Just sad that we don’t have a new Harry Potter picture every month now) I just knew that meant a new year was starting. Silly conspiracy theorists.
The Bible Code Theory. Ok, so in this theory, Israeli mathematicians have supposedly come up with an algorithm to predict the end of the world according to the Bible. The biggest problem with this theory? God says that NO ONE but Him knows the date. Matthew 24:36 – “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself.t Only the Father knows.” So obviously that one’s out. I don’t care how smart these mathematicians are, God is smarter and all knowing and He’s the one who decides when it will end anyways!
The Nostradamus Theory. As most people know, Nostradamus was a prophet that made a lot of predictions in his life. Some have come true but many haven’t. Some of his predictions warned of terrible times in the years 1992, 2012 and 2014 warning of terrible natural disasters. Um, last I checked we didn’t have a terrible end of the world experience in 92 so why should we believe him about 2012 or 2014?
There are way more theories but I doubt you all want to read about all of them. But anyways, in my opinion, none of these theories seem at all logical. And, in the words of my dear Charlie McDonnell, “Remember: Always deny the apocalypse because you’ll usually be right; and when you’re wrong, nobody will be around to say, “I told you so.” ”
If any of you are interested in more theories, I got my information from http://www.the2012theories.com/ and from Charlie’s video about the end of the world.
Hopefully you enjoyed this post!
Many of you are probably aware of the SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) that the American government is currently trying to pass. As a member of the internet, I’m obviously quite against this act. I can’t even tell you how much the internet means to me. I know that sounds really stupid and silly but I have this blog to get all my thoughts in order on this blog, I keep in touch with friends that are far away through Facebook, I share humorous things on Twitter and I keep up with things on Tumblr, and let’s not forgot about my deep love of YouTube. Without the internet, when I’m at my house I would literally go insane. I probably wouldn’t be ok without the internet and now this censorship act would take away every single one of those sites. This is not acceptable! What ever happened to our rights? This is utter nonsense.
Today, many major sites including Wikipedia and Google blacked out for 24 hours to show how outrageous the SOPA bill is. Wikipedia said this of the bill, “SOPA and PIPA would put the burden on website owners to police user-contributed material and call for the unnecessary blocking of entire sites. Small sites won’t have sufficient resources to defend themselves. Big media companies may seek to cut off funding sources for their foreign competitors, even if copyright isn’t being infringed. Foreign sites will be blacklisted, which means they won’t show up in major search engines. SOPA and PIPA would build a framework for future restrictions and suppression.
In a world in which politicians regulate the Internet based on the influence of big money, Wikipedia — and sites like it — cannot survive.
Congress says it’s trying to protect the rights of copyright owners, but the “cure” that SOPA and PIPA represent is worse than the disease. SOPA and PIPA are not the answer: they would fatally damage the free and open Internet.
Make the greatest impact by calling your Congressional Representative today. Hundreds of thousands of people are reaching out — email forms for your Representative may be broken.” and offered contact information to contact any Representative in your area. I obviously right away contacted all three of my representatives.
I’m praying so much that this bill doesn’t pass. But if it does, I love you all and will miss your contact deeply.
