The RMS Titanic
As I’m sure quite a lot of you know, today is the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the legendary ship, the RMS Titanic. On April 10, 1912, the ship embarked on it’s maiden voyage from England to New York. Obviously, the ship never made it to New York but instead hit an iceberg in the middle of the night on the 14th and eventually sank completely around 2am on the 15th.
Ever since the sinking of the ship the story has been a huge one, it seems that everyone in the world knows the story of the fateful ship and of the many lives lost that day because of the lack of lifeboats on the Titanic and because of the negligence of the crew to fail to notice the iceberg they were headed towards in the first place. They were led to believe that the Titanic would be an indestructible ship and unfortunately because it wasn’t, many lives were lost. The story gained even more fame in 1985 when the remains were found in the ocean and of course even more so when the famous James Cameron movie, “Titanic” was released in 1997.
I’ve always found the story fascinating though of course horrifying at the same time because of the tragedy that it truly was and in middle school I read just about every book I could find on the subject because of how much it interested me. For those wondering however, I do hate the James Cameron movie. It’s historically inaccurate and they turned the story into a freaking chick flick! Ugh. It makes me so angry… Anyways… Titanic 2, that’s where it’s at man! Quality movie right there. (https://elvishjesusfreak.wordpress.com/2011/11/12/time-for-a-movie-review/)
Anyways, happy (Well.. not really happy..) anniversary of the Titanic!
