The Girl Who Waited

Amy Pond is known as the girl who waited on Doctor Who and eventually, as seen in “Closing Time” sort of, she realized that you can’t wait forever. She realized it was time for her to stop waiting and she did. I think I’ve come to that point as well. I can’t just sit around waiting for things to happen, yes, God will work His plan in my life but as a good friend pointed out recently, I don’t think God would want us to just sit around waiting for Him to work either, we have to do something, we can’t just expect Him to do all the work. He will if we don’t do anything because His plan will happen no matter what but sometimes He needs us to do something too and then the result is more rewarding. I’m not saying that in every situation we should take action, sometimes what God calls us to do is just wait, but other times we need to do what we’re supposed to.

I’m glad you added that little disclaimer at the end because I think it really depends on what situation – you have to always measure it against the Word of God to know whether it is one to wait or to take action.

E.g. If you need a job, yes you pray to God for one but you need to get off your bum and go find one. God doesn’t reward laziness.

E.g. If you are praying for a future husband, I don’t think we wait around and do nothing. We live our single years radically for Jesus BUT give the pen of our love story to God and wait for His timing to bring the one He has chosen for us. Sometimes God delays bringing something or someone in our lives because there is something that He has yet to work in us. What God is after is faith and obedience. Have faith that God’s timing is the best and obey Him by waiting on Him and as you wait, do His will – reach out to the poor and hungry physically and spiritually, pour out your life as a living sacrifice to Him and you have no idea (1 Corith 2:9) what God has planned for you!

    God bless! :)
