RIP Lily and James.
Thirty years ago today, a tragic event took place in the Wizarding world. After fighting for many months in the Order of the Phoenix against the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters, Lily and James Potter were brutally murdered by the killing curse by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. You know who entered the Potter’s house, tried to use the curse against one-year-old Harry Potter but the love of his mother, Lily saved his life, leaving him unscathed except for a lightening shaped scar on the child’s forehead. Unfortunately, the child’s parents were not as lucky. Fortunately, Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts was alerted almost immediately and with the help of Rubeus Hagrid took the child out of Godric’s Hollow and to the Harry’s aunt and uncle’s house on Privet Drive.
Let us never forget the sacrifice that the Potter’s made on this day and the sacrifice that many others made for the sake of the Wizarding and the Muggle world.
