Yeah, it’s cool. Bow ties are cool.
Today is actually going to be another meaningful post but first I must inform you that I have finally started season 5 of Doctor Who. My time with David Tennant is gone and I, like so many others most certainly teared up at Tennant’s end. It was a brilliant episode though! Also, I watched the first episode of season 5 and Matt Smith, while he is not Tennant is certainly a very close second to Tennant’s Doctor. He’s fantastic! And I must second his opinion that bow ties are indeed, very cool.
Alright then! Onto my meaningful post! Ok, so this is a bit of a second part to yesterdays post, it deals with the second lesson we went over in Bible study Wednesday but I didn’t want to make yesterdays post to long so here’s some more! :)
As I said yesterday, we all long to be loved. The book we’re studying says, “The fear of not being loved is one of the most devastating emotions we can experience. Satan loves to cloud our judgement and convince us we need to change — we need to concentrate on fixing our “flaws” or lowering our standards in order to attract love. Fear causes us to do things we wouldn’t ordinarily do… and, worst of all, fear keeps us from receiving many blessings God has ready for us.” I think that is so true and the writer of the book is really wise to have said that. I mean think about it, we all get so wrapped up in fixing all the problems we have with ourselves that we tend to get caught up with only that and miss great things in our lives! The book goes onto say, “There are so many good times God wants to share with us and so many great things He wants to give us, but when we react on the basis of our fears, we are unable to join Him.” All God wants for us is for us to trust Him and He will give us the desires of our hearts. He loves us so much and created us and when we’re happy and following Him, it makes Him super happy too! God even wants to give us the love of our life, He longs for us to find the one person that makes us happiest but while we’re waiting for that person (and once we’ve found him) we need to focus first and foremost on Christ! I’ve heard several quotes on the matter, “Dance with God, He’ll let the perfect man cut in” and one that the book mentions, “Don’t keep looking around for the right person to fall in love with. Run hard after God, and when you hear footsteps beside you, look over to see who is running along beside you. He will probably be the person God has chosen for you to spend the rest of your life with-the one who can fulfill your need for human companionship and love.” I think both of those are so true! Like so many other things, we get so caught up with looking around for our true love that we don’t realize that maybe they’ll just find us. God will make it a perfect meeting during His perfect timing! And I personally can’t wait for that to happen! :)
That’s it for today but before I go, I want to share some encouraging verses I found in my quiet time yesterday! :)
Proverbs 12:25 ~ Worry weighs us down; a cheerful word picks us up.
Luke 12:25-34 ~ Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can’t even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance-but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself. “Be generous. Give to the poor. Get yourselves a bank that can’t go bankrupt, a bank in heaven far from bankrobbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank you can bank on. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.
