I am beautiful.
Last night at our dorm floor’s Bible study, we continued the “More Beautiful You” book by Jonny Diaz’s mother, Gwendolyn. (Side note, I love the name Gwendolyn, I think it’s pretty dang legit!)
In last nights lessons (Lesson 3 & 4) we went over how Women are some of God’s most amazing creations. Granted, most of us don’t always (or even often) feel that way but we really are. We usually consider ourselves to be ordinary, uninteresting, flawed or all of the above. We need to remember that God put all the details of our bodies together and he planned exactly how he wants us to look. In Psalm 139, it says that all of us were intimately and intricately created by God while we were in our mother’s wombs. Our unique bodies are the only ones that can perfectly handle each day we go through. We’re wonderfully made and God is proud of his creation of us! When we don’t accept the fact that we’re beautiful, we’re telling God He didn’t do a good job and is not a good artist.
Whenever we start to feel inadequate and flawed, Satan smiles at that. He loves when we base our whole worth on our outside appearances. He wants us to think that outer beauty is the most important. Which is a lie. He wants to distract us from serving God by concentrating on our “flaws”.
In 2 Corinthians, Paul talks about how it is through our weaknesses that God can best reveal His strengths. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” We all need to remember that and work on serving Him and focusing on Him rather than what we think is not beautiful. :)
We are all beautiful, perfectly and wonderfully made! I’m going to try to remember that instead of focusing on all the things I wish I could change about myself.
